Kim McCabe BCA
Chief Executive Officer
Kim has lived in the Wairarapa since 1984 when he moved here from Wellington. He enjoys anything with an engine and like all men is always keen to fix things he knows nothing about. Rumoured to have once played squash but any evidence has long since disappeared! Owns up to a weakness for top shelf whiskey and gin and fine dining.
Paul Bywater CA, BBS
Chief Financial Officer
Paul joined WBS in August 2016. Paul is a Chartered Accountant and since returning from the UK in 2004, has operated in senior financial management roles for some of New Zealand’s major corporates including Meridian Energy, NZ Post and most recently as Group Treasurer for the Todd Corporation for the last 5 years. Prior to this Paul worked for global accountancy firm KPMG for 10 years both here and in London, working across their audit, corporate finance and insolvency practices.
Andrew Bond BSC
Andrew joins WBS after time spent as Business Manager of a prestigious local Chartered Accountancy firm and brings a wealth of experience, gained both locally and within the fishing industry, with him. Andrew is a local lad who traded in the bright lights of Auckland to return to his roots in Wairarapa, bringing his lovely partner and two gorgeous young children with him.
Vicki Thompson B App Mgmt
Vicki came from Canterbury via Wellington before settling in Masterton. Her background is in aviation, holding various roles within Air New Zealand, before joining the sales team at a local vineyard. Loans Processing Manager
Elva loves to play cards, and to travel. With a little of the gypsy wanderer in her, she and her husband will set off in their caravan often with no destination in mind, having a great time exploring all New Zealand has to offer along the way. She holds an Australasian title in the sport of bowls, and is an expert at darts. Challenge her to a round of poker at your peril….
Kathryn loves to travel and has just returned from a recent trip to Fiji. She has plans to visit one of her children currently living in the United Kingdom in the not too distant future. Kathryn is the friendly face behind the Term Investments desk so be sure to say hello when you come in to talk rates and terms!
Katharine has recently joined the ranks of WBS after spending 10 years living in both Poland and France. She made the move back to Godzone with her husband and 2 beautiful girls. They are now living on a lifestyle block and enjoying being part of a rural community. Katherine has a background in banking – you will find her on the tellers counter and you will hear her cherry ‘good morning’ when you walk in the door.
Dianne has a large family waiting for her when she gets home each night – 1 husband, 3 dogs and 2 cats! She is a member of the local Dog Agility Club and holds NZ titles. She is often to be found at competitions at weekends or training her new Border Collie puppy. Dianne hails from Auckland originally, making the move to the Wairarapa with her then Fire Chief husband, many years ago.
Customer Services Officer
Rachael is the newest recruit to join the ranks of WBS staff. She is a local girl, born and bred in the Wairarapa, who left to study for her degree at the University of Canterbury, before heading for the bright lights of Melbourne, before returning home. Welcome aboard Rachael!
Loans Processing Officer
Melissa is in a very unique position as she was a staff member of WBS in the 80’s before leaving to start her family. She has now come full circle and has returned to the WBS team, as loans processing officer. Welcome back Melissa!! In her spare time she keeps busy assisting on the family farm.
Lois is an animal lover and frequently rescues strays, most notably recently rescuing a young sparrow fallen from its nest onto the footpath on her way to work. It lived in luxury in an empty photocopy paper box with water and biscuit crumbs from the staffroom along with the hum of the branch printer to calm its nerves before flying off unscathed from its WBS experience. Another happy customer!
