Chief Executive OfficerKim has lived in the Wairarapa since 1984 when he moved here from Wellington. He enjoys anything with an engine and like all men is always keen to fix things he knows nothing about. Rumoured to have once played squash but any evidence has long since disappeared! Owns up to a weakness for top shelf whiskey and gin and fine dining.
Paul Bywater CA, BBS
Chief Financial OfficerPaul joined WBS in August 2016. Paul is a Chartered Accountant and since returning from the UK in 2004, has operated in senior financial management roles for some of New Zealand’s major corporates including Meridian Energy, NZ Post and most recently as Group Treasurer for the Todd Corporation for the last 5 years. Prior to this Paul worked for global accountancy firm KPMG for 10 years both here and in London, working across their audit, corporate finance and insolvency practices.
Andrew Bond BSC
Operations ManagerAndrew joins WBS after time spent as Business Manager of a prestigious local Chartered Accountancy firm and brings a wealth of experience, gained both locally and within the fishing industry, with him. Andrew is a local lad who traded in the bright lights of Auckland to return to his roots in Wairarapa, bringing his lovely partner and two gorgeous young children with him.
Vicki Thompson B App Mgmt
Marketing ManagerVicki came from Canterbury via Wellington before settling in Masterton. Her background is in aviation, holding various roles within Air New Zealand, before joining the sales team at a local vineyard. Previous to her role as WBS PR/Marketing Manager, Vicki was a Business Manager with another prominent Masterton accountancy firm.
Loans Operations Manager
Sasha is a local lass, Masterton born and bred. She has two wonderful children and a firefighter partner so life is never dull in her household. Sasha comes to WBS from 6 years in the finance industry and has a strong musical background. She plays the drums, as does her daughter, and has played for the Masterton Brass Band and other music groups, along with her father, and is related to famous NZ singer Ladyhawke, so music is very strong in this family! Sasha is a keen traveler and intends to see more of the world when time permits. Welcome aboard Sasha!
Accounts ManagerKathryn loves to travel and has just returned from a recent trip to Fiji. Kathryn has 3 young adult children who all live close by and loves spending time with them. Kathryn is the friendly face behind the Term Investments desk so be sure to say hello when you come in to talk rates and terms!
Accounts OfficerKatharine has recently joined the ranks of WBS after spending 10 years living in both Poland and France. She made the move back to Godzone with her husband and 2 beautiful girls. They are now living on a lifestyle block and enjoying being part of a rural community. Katherine has a background in banking – you will find her on the tellers counter and you will hear her cherry ‘good morning’ when you walk in the door.
Loans OfficerDianne has a large family waiting for her when she gets home each night – 1 husband, 3 dogs and 2 cats! She is a member of the local Dog Agility Club and holds NZ titles. She is often to be found at competitions at weekends or training her new Border Collie puppy. Dianne hails from Auckland originally, making the move to the Wairarapa with her then Fire Chief husband, many years ago.
Customer Services OfficerRachael is the newest recruit to join the ranks of WBS staff. She is a local girl, born and bred in the Wairarapa, who left to study for her degree at the University of Canterbury, before heading for the bright lights of Melbourne, before returning home. Welcome aboard Rachael!
Loans Processing OfficerMelissa is in a very unique position as she was a staff member of WBS in the 80’s before leaving to start her family. She has now come full circle and has returned to the WBS team, as loans processing officer. Welcome back Melissa!! In her spare time she keeps busy assisting on the family farm.
Part-Time TellerLois is an animal lover and frequently rescues strays, most notably recently rescuing a young sparrow fallen from its nest onto the footpath on her way to work. It lived in luxury in an empty photocopy paper box with water and biscuit crumbs from the staffroom along with the hum of the branch printer to calm its nerves before flying off unscathed from its WBS experience. Another happy customer!
