A shining example of sporting passion and commitment
Another team that we’re very proud to support is the Farrier’s Dalefield Premier Men’s hockey team.
Members of the Farrier’s Dalefield Premier Men’s hockey team talk tactics at a recent game.
Back in 2015, a small team of Dalefield Hockey Club supporters came up with a plan to rejuvenate the team in the Wellington premier competition. The result of that plan is a men’s team that has won the championship four times since, and been in three other finals, and a women’s team that has won it five times out of five appearances! Pretty phenomenal.
The Farrier’s Dalefield Premier Men’s team has had a challenging start to the season, with several players unavailable due to involvement in regional and national representative teams, including one player, Dane Lett, heading to Paris to play at the Olympic Games. But the team’s co-manager, Mike van Woerkom, said that the players’ commitment is testament to how well Dalefield has done.
‘Having eight college lads in the team shows that player development is a big part of the Dalefield Hockey ethos,’ Mike said.
WBS wishes the Farrier’s Dalefield Premier Men’s hockey team all the very best for the rest of the season. You’re doing your club proud.
