John Healy appointed as Chief Executive
The WBS Board are pleased to announce the appointment of John Healy as our new Chief Executive, as of 15 February 2023.
Mr Healy joined our team in November as interim Chief Executive, and brings with him over 30 years’ experience in senior finance roles from both public and private sector organisations around the world, including Europe, UK and Australia. His most recent role was Chief Financial Officer for ACC in Wellington, a role he held for four years.
WBS Chair Kristy McDonald KC, is delighted with the appointment. “We’re thrilled to confirm John’s permanent position as Chief Executive. He has excellent credentials, and great experience in enabling organisational and commercial success. He is extremely well placed to continue leading our tailored lending and investment business, bringing progressive new projects to fruition, and supporting our community initiatives, particularly as we enter our 150th year.”
Mr Healy is a qualified Chartered Accountant, and has strong ties to Wairarapa, having grown up in Wellington with five siblings, and spending many years chasing better surf on the Wairarapa coastline or tramping in the surrounding hills. He has two children; a daughter at Otago University and a son at Wellington College.
Mr Healy feels privileged to secure the role at WBS, “I’m thrilled to be leading an organisation where our customers and community are at the heart of everything we do. I’m supported by a passionate team, who are genuinely committed to understanding our customers’ needs. I’m excited about the future of WBS, and the pivotal role we play in supporting and reinvesting back into the Wairarapa.”
In April 2023 WBS will mark 150 years in operation. This milestone will be recognised in a number of ways, including support of community events and initiatives across the region.
